The Jungle Juice Was Flowing

Thursday; a brand new day; after breakfast in our room (fruit, toast 'n peanut butter, tea) we were off to town to explore a bit before we hopped the Jungle Cruise at 10:30 to do some serious Whale Watching (we thought). On board we were offered a small plate of fruit (pineapple) and a couple mini donuts along with a 'drink' (there were a few alchoholic & non-alchoholic choices)..........the popular drink became what they called 'Jungle Juice'. It was an alchoholic concoction of some sort; pretty color; got everyone going; flowed quite liberally throughout the entire three and a half hour cruise.
Shall I just say, this adventure didn't seem to hold Whale Watching as its number one priority. We did see some Whales (not a lot) and nothing close up which I was hoping for. The main objective of the Jungle Cruise seemed to be having fun.....and we did have fun.
The crew entertained us and fed us a pretty decent lunch. We got some good photo opportunities, cruised over to an area where we could go snorkeling if we wanted, then back to the dock by which time everyone on board was pretty much three sheets to the wind.
After the cruise we wandered around the town awhile (had to walk off the booze) then went shopping and George bought me a lovely new watch.
A taxi took us out to San Jose and the 'Restaurante Villa Serena' where we had a nice dinner while we looked out over the ocean. It was quite enjoyable; a quiet evening after the craziness of the 'Jungle Cruise'.
Back to the Resort and the peace of our own space to relax a bit before bed time. Sounds pretty 'old folkish' but we had no energy to be out exploring or bar hopping or partying or anything of the kind any more that particular day (and we turn into pumpkins after 10:00)............. Getting Acquainted

Attended the obligatory time share presentation at the Mayan Palace; free breakfast; some certificates for free dinners; free dinner cruise; one thousand pesos for shopping. (One hundred pesos is (give or take) equivilent to about eight dollars.) Then we were off to do our own thing. First stop the grocery store for a few supplies for sandwiches etc. then back to our resort; short ride on the golf cart (used to transport people from their rooms to other areas of the resort) to visit and explore the main swimming pool area. The pool had a swim up bar and restaurant close at hand with several waiters to take orders and who would gladly receive your tips.........very nice atmosphere to relax in.
Back in our room we made ourselves a yummy veggie sandwich for dinner.......full of all kinds of veggies and cheese......too fat to get our mouth around but tasted delicious!
We watched the sunset from our balcony, played a few games of dice, read for a while then off to bed; a tiring day.........(February 29, 2012)

We're On Our Way

Up before the birds, hop the shuttle to Seattle, board Alaska and fly off to some warm weather, sunshine and soothing sounds of the ocean washing up on the sand..........sounds heavenly and it will be I'm sure!
Thanks Robin for giving us a place to park our vehicle, a bed for the night & getting up so early to drive us to catch the bus.
Plane left on time; arrived on time; flight was good; all went without a hitch until we hit the airport in Los Cabos where the 'body snatchers' grabbed us.....that's the name they have given to the people who pounce on you as soon as you come through the door at the airport........they make commission from all the people they can entice to attend a time share presentation. Once we got through that we got our transportation to the resort in Cabo San Lucas..........a beautiful accomodation for our stay in Mexico.........(February 28, 2012)

Last Wishes of a Best Friend

On facebook I found this writing and was very touched by it.........I want to share it.......don't want to lose it (It accompanied the picture of a sleeping dog) and it went like this:
Before humans die, they write their last Will & Testament, give their home & all they have, to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask.......
To a poor and lonely stray I'd give:
- My happy home.
- My bowl & cozy bed, soft pillows & all my toys.
- The lap, which I loved so much.
- The hand that stroked my fur & the sweet voice which spoke my name.
I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog or cat, the place I had in my human's loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand."
Instead, go find an unloved dog or cat, one whose life has held no joy or hope and give MY place to HIM.
This is the only thing I can give......the love I left behind.

Home For Christmas

Soon we will be on our way 'home for Christmas'. There is something special about that phrase; something warm and inviting; something nostalgic; something surely reminiscent of past Christmases that are worthy of remembering.
In any event (and even though I am already HOME as George so often reminds me) I am looking forward to going 'home for Christmas' this year to be with my family. I haven't been back to celebrate Christmas since I came out here to Surrey in 2007. It will be nice to be in Alberta for this 'Merry Christmas' season.
Hopefully we will get a chance to drive down Candy Cane Lane to see all the lights and decorations; perhaps see the parliament buildings; maybe build a snowman; take a sleigh ride behind the quad; have a snow ball fight or whatever happens to touch our funny bone.........and of course a wonderful chance to remember Christmas past with family.
Alberta, make room............we will soon be on our way!

The Words Are Lost

It's been forever since I last wrote.......

The Words Are Lost

Where are the words I used to pull
from the crinkles of my mind
the words I used to call
from unknown places I could find

They used to smile upon my page
make me feel that I was not alone
They used to paint the ocean waves
a sunset we could watch at night

Where are the words, my friends
that held my hand when darkness came
Where are the words, my force
that rescued me from disregard

Can you help me find the words
I used to place so fondly down
upon blank paper for the world
to see, to hear, to touch, to hold
